In quel tempo, Gesù prese con sé Pietro, Giovanni e Giacomo e salì sul monte a pregare. Mentre pregava, il suo volto cambiò d’aspetto e la sua veste divenne candida e sfolgorante. Ed ecco, due uomini conversavano con lui: erano Mosè ed Elìa, apparsi nella gloria, e parlavano del suo esodo, che stava per compiersi a Gerusalemme.
Pietro e i suoi compagni erano oppressi dal sonno; ma, quando si svegliarono, videro la sua gloria e i due uomini che stavano con lui.
Mentre questi si separavano da lui, Pietro disse a Gesù: «Maestro, è bello per noi essere qui. Facciamo tre capanne, una per te, una per Mosè e una per Elìa». Egli non sapeva quello che diceva.
Mentre parlava così, venne una nube e li coprì con la sua ombra. All’entrare nella nube, ebbero paura. E dalla nube uscì una voce, che diceva: «Questi è il Figlio mio, l’eletto; ascoltatelo!».
Appena la voce cessò, restò Gesù solo. Essi tacquero e in quei giorni non riferirono a nessuno ciò che avevano visto.
Tutti gli anni liturgici (A, B e C), la seconda Domenica di quaresima propone, secondo i vari vangeli, l’episodio della Trasfigurazione, legato a un brano diverso della storia di Abramo nella prima Lettura. Perchè? Perchè la Trasfigurazione sarebbe una sorta di “spoiler” della Quaresima. Ci ricorda che il cammino verso il Calvario porterà alla gloria della resurrezione. E Gesù ha fatto sperimentare questo ai tre prediletti che aveva portato con sè sul monte a pregare quel giorno.
Sottolineiamo una cosa che troveremo sia nella prima lettura che nel Vangelo (fra le mille che si possono dire sulla trasfigurazione): a un certo punto l’uomo si addormenta! Sia Abramo, sistemati i sacrifici, sia i tre discepoli, ad un certo punto prendono sonno! Addirittura i 3 prendono sonno nel pieno della manifestazione luminosa di Gesù… è evidente che non è un sonno dovuto alla noia!
Anche Adamo ha dormito, quando? Quando Dio ha creato Eva. Anche nel Getsemani i discepoli dormiranno, quando Gesù e il Padre decideranno di abbracciare la Croce. Quando l’uomo, nella Bibbia, dorme, significa che Dio sta operando! Dio opera! Sembra una cosa scontata ma non lo è! Noi crediamo che noi agiamo e Dio benedice da lontano. In realtà è Dio il primo agente, il primo attore. E l’uomo deve imparare a dormire, ogni tanto, avendo il coraggio di lasciar operare Dio! Lascia agire Dio, fidati, dormi come bimbo sereno… è questione di fede!
