Anche in questo brano sembrano strane le parole rivolte da Gesù a sua madre, non ce le aspettavamo: «Donna, che vuoi da me? Non è ancora giunta la mia ora» (Gv 2, 4) e a quella reazione così apparentemente disarmante alla sua richiesta di intervenire per far sì che la gioia matrimoniale di due ragazzi non andasse persa, Maria, che stava facendo il suo cammino nel divenire discepola di Gesù fa un atto di completa fiducia in suo Figlio: «Qualsiasi cosa vi dica, fatela» (Gv 2, 5). Quei servi ai quali Maria dice di fidarsi di Dio anche quando tutto sembra umanamente perduto, siamo noi. Ma come? Manca il vino e ci chiedete una cosa assurda: riempire le anfore fino all’orlo di acqua? A cosa potrà mai servire quest’acqua che siamo noi? A noi serve il vino, non l’acqua! Ebbene il Signore ci dimostra che se siamo generosi, se non tiriamo i remi in barca, se abbiamo ancora voglia di riempire quelle anfore fino all’orlo, non solo trasformerà quell’acqua in vino, ma in un vino buono mai bevuto prima.
Perché quell’acqua si trasformi in vino non servono chissà quali grandi numeri: serve però che chi decide di donarsi lo faccia pienamente. Le giare contenevano da 80 a 120 litri. Lui non ci chiede poco (80) o molto (120) ma ci chiede il tutto di cui siamo capaci. Non ci chiede di riempire la nostra giara solo a metà o a tre quarti ma fino all’orlo. La nostra fiducia in Dio non può essere condizionata: deve essere piena. E il vino nuovo, quello buono, può essere messo solo in otri nuovi, altrimenti gli otri, che siamo noi, si spaccheranno e andranno perduti (Lc 5, 37). Se in questo momento di passaggio non trasformiamo la nostra mente e il nostro cuore il miracolo non potrà avvenire e l’acqua resterà lì a stagnare.
Negli Atti degli Apostoli la prima comunità di discepoli di Gesù descritta da Luca non è numerosa, poco più di un centinaio di persone. Maria però questa volta è tra loro: «Erano assidui e concordi nella preghiera, insieme con alcune donne e con Maria, la madre di Gesù, e con i fratelli di lui» (At 1,14). La madre di Gesù ha fatto definitivamente la sua scelta e ora appartiene al piccolo gruppo che, nonostante l’infamante morte di Gesù, continua a prestargli fede. Maria è stata capace di accogliere la parola di Gesù e di credere nel Cristo contro ogni evidenza. La parola anche dura che Gesù le aveva rivolto, in lei ha portato frutto un po’ alla volta, trasformandola da madre di Gesù a fedele discepola del Cristo, capace di seguirlo sì fino alla croce, ma in attesa della resurrezione.
Maria è divenuta discepola perché ha saputo attendere. Non ha preteso tutto e subito, ma ha accettato di compiere il suo Avvento, di camminare “meditando tutte queste cose nel suo cuore” (Cfr. Lc 2,19). Come ci ricorda il nostro don Tonino Bello, “non solo l’attesa della nascita del proprio Figlio, ma anche nell’ultimo fotogramma con cui Maria si congeda dalle Scritture essa viene colta dall’ obiettivo nell’ atteggiamento dell’attesa. Lì, nel Cenacolo, al piano superiore, in compagnia dei discepoli, in attesa dello Spirito (At 1,14; 2,1-4). Vergine in attesa, all’inizio. Madre in attesa, alla fine. L’attesa di Lui, per nove lunghissimi mesi. L’attesa del giorno che lei avrebbe voluto di volta in volta rimandare, in cui suo Figlio sarebbe uscito di casa senza farvi ritorno mai più. L’attesa dell’ora in cui, prima del tempo, avrebbe fatto traboccare di vino le anfore di acqua. L’attesa dell’ultimo rantolo dell’Unigenito inchiodato sul legno della croce. L’attesa del terzo giorno, vissuta in veglia solitaria, davanti alla roccia. Attendere per Maria è infinito del verbo amare. Anzi, amare all’infinito”.
Anche noi, Madre, vogliamo attendere con te e come te, certi che “Dio non turba mai la gioia dei suoi figli se non per darne loro una più certa e più grande” (A. Manzoni). E ti chiediamo di aiutarci in questo. Come te ai piedi della Croce, anche noi in questo momento ci sentiamo forse desolati ma non disperati, tristi ma non abbattuti, in attesa di cogliere, nell’eco del canto degli alleluia pasquali che fino a pochi giorni fa risuonavano in questa chiesa, delle voci che ci aiutino a rispondere alle nostre domande, convinti che il venir meno di qualcosa di bello è solo il preludio per una resurrezione ancora più splendente. Aiutaci a riempire fino all’orlo le nostre anfore, a farle traboccare seminando gocce di speranza anche laddove non ce lo aspettiamo. Rendici entusiasti nel portare a “Colui che dirige il banchetto” la nostra povera offerta convinti che si trasformerà nel vino migliore, che ancora saprà inebriare tanti fedeli, tanti giovani. Il nostro unico Maestro di tavola è Gesù tuo figlio. Chiunque altro è solo un servo, al massimo un capo sala, ma chi conduce le danze è Lui. E noi vogliamo oggi rinnovare la nostra fiducia come hai fatto tu; chiedergli di continuare a camminare soprattutto nell’ora più buia, di aiutarci a fare qualunque cosa ci dirà.
Il cammino che tra poco faremo con te per le nostre strade, non certo per l’ultima volta, è il desiderio della tua benedizione. Benedici le case tra le quali passerai. Benedici ogni famiglia della nostra parrocchia. E rendi tuti noi benedizioni viventi, perché sappiamo benedire, cioè “dire bene” l’uno dell’altro, oltre ogni divisione, oltre ogni giudizio o pregiudizio facile, oltre ogni desiderio di potere e di primeggiare. Ricordaci che tutto questo serve solo a dividere, a far stagnare l’acqua nelle nostre otri e che invece, per avere il vino buono, bisogna rimboccarsi le maniche ed amarsi sul serio, superando anche se stessi, proprio come hai fatto tu.
